Ms. Emerick is originally from Bartonville, IL and attended Limestone Community High School where she was involved in Band, Choir, Musicals, Fall Play, One-Acts, National Honor Society, Key Club, and Student Prevention Team.

After high school, Ms. Emerick went on a whirlwind tour of colleges around the Midwest, but finally graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in December 2010. After graduation, she moved back to Peoria and spent a semester substitute teaching in District 150.

Ms. Emerick started teaching at Peoria High School in the Fall of 2011. Since then, she has taught mainly Sophomore English, but has also taught English Composition, the Sophomore AVID Elective, and Journalism. She has also had the opportunity to co-teach with teachers who focus on special education and english language learners, as well as spend time with students of all ability levels. 

The 2017-2018 school year has given Ms. Emerick the opportunity to expand her teaching skills by taking on new classes. Ms. Emerick will be teaching Junior Enriched and Basic English, as well as Junior AVID. She is excited for the opportunity and challenge this year will bring! 

In addition to her duties during the school day, Ms. Emerick is a Yearbook &

Newspaper Advisor, Speech Team coach, Board Game Club Co-Advisor, Sports and Clubs Supporter, ACT Saturdays tutor, and study tables tutor. Ms. Emerick has Masters Degree in Learning and Technology through Western Governor's University and an endorsement in School Librarianship from Illinois State University. When not at school, she likes to read, play with her dog, hang out with friends, and visit her nephew in Chicago.
